The university lies in 19º52' N, 96º37'E with the elevation of 340 feet above the sea level and situated in Zeyar Thiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw. It is 254 miles from Yangon city and 176 miles from Mandalay city. Its neighboring institutes are University of Veterinary Science in the north, Department of Agricultural Research in the south, and University of Forestry and Forest Research Institute in the east. Yangon-Mandalay Highway is running in the west of the university. University estate is approximately 360 acres including its campus farm of about 102 acres.
The Agricultural University is located on a south of Yezin village, about 18 kilometers (11 miles) north of Pyinmana, Mandalay Division.
The library was established in 1924, the same time as the university. It became a depository library of FAO in 1999 and it has received a copy of every FAO publication free of charge.
YAU is also sheltering two specific independent associations which are complementing the mother institute in academic and social activities and the first one is AUAA which has profound image in the nation assisting the university for international collaboration as well as students' scholarship and university textbook development.
